Arenas, and duels of sword and sorcery, have long standing traditions in many regions of Talamh throughout history. Perhaps none more so, or more notorious than Al-Maisan.
In Al-Maisan the gladiators of the sand “Circle” have been idolized for hundreds of years. To the present day Arena fighting stands as a time-honored national sporting event. With slavery having been abolished just after The Great Tarrasque Attack prospective gladiators are no longer slaves, but are instead contracted for a series of 300 matches. Though government sponsorship and contracts lends the sport a bit of credibility, an unmistakable air of savagery remains. Widespread knowledge of corruption of the system in Al-Maisan goes unchallenged and is one of the many troubles that country faces.
Even more troubling is the refugees of Al-Maisan who have brought their viciousness and lust for wealth to be made from the sport to Celeb-Ost; a city that’s primary government is based on that of Bodenolf’s which stands firmly against arenas, fight clubs (animal or otherwise) and ownership of sentient races. It has created an annoyance for Kessler Ordensname who searches for a solution to the problem in the face of so many others.
